  • Jail - A player can be described as in jail if he has played his ball to a place where there seems to be no escape, such as into a clump of bushes or deep woods.
  • Jerk - A sudden movement in the swing which destroys all rhythm.
  • Jigger - A club with a narrow face, usually the loft of a No. five or six iron and a fairly short shaft, most often used for run-up shots.
  • Jitters - Nervousness, especially in puttting, that prevents the player making a smooth stroke.
